Postcards from Boston

Dear Massachusetts,
Thank you for this sunny, blue-skied, 80-degree October day. Thank you for your many colleges and universities. Thank you for your Jewish population. Thank you for
Macoun and Cortland apples. Thank you for loving ice cream as much as I do, or, rather, for helping to shape this New England daughter's ice cream obsession and making my return to ice cream-obsessed environs a homecoming. Thank you for nice friends who are glad to see me, pick me up at the airport, and cook me dinner.

Thank you, Cambridge, for your cornucopia of ethnic dining (Thai, Southern Indian, Middle Eastern, Italian, Chinese, and an Irish pub), yoga studios, convenient access to public transportation, diverse people, parks, and local and organic foods courtesy of the farmer's market and Co-op. Thank you, too, to Star Market for Patriots paraphernalia and Brigham's ice cream.

Thank you for not being Oklahoma.
Love,
MJ
